Maggie Watson Penn Hills Township PA Death, Obituary: Beloved Educator has died

Margaret “Maggie” (Kraf) Watson, age 51, of Plum, formerly of Penn Hills, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Her passing leaves a deep and lasting sorrow in the hearts of her family, friends, colleagues, and the many students whose lives she touched throughout her years of service.

Maggie was the beloved wife of Scott W. Watson and a devoted mother to her two sons, Colin and Jack, who were the center of her world. She poured her heart into her family, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. As a daughter of Edward and Kathleen (Friel) Kraf, she remained closely connected to her roots, cherishing the values of family, faith, and compassion that shaped her life. She was also a loving sister to Patrick (Karyn) Kraf and Mark (Renee) Kraf, and a proud aunt to many nieces and nephews who will forever remember her warmth and kindness.

For more than 25 years, Maggie served as a guidance counselor at Linton Middle School, where she became a cornerstone of the school community. She was more than an educator—she was a mentor, a listener, and a source of comfort to countless students navigating some of the most formative and challenging years of their lives. Maggie had a unique gift for making young people feel heard, understood, and supported. Her office was a safe space where students could find guidance, encouragement, and compassion.

Colleagues remember Maggie as dedicated, empathetic, and deeply committed to the well-being of others. She approached her work with patience and sincerity, always going above and beyond to ensure her students felt valued and cared for. Her impact extended far beyond academics, shaping lives in ways that will continue to resonate for years to come.

Even in the face of her illness, Maggie demonstrated remarkable strength and grace. She faced her battle with courage, supported by the love of her family and the community she had given so much to over the years.

Maggie will also be dearly missed by her beloved pets—Wilbur, Lucy, and Libby—who brought her joy and companionship.

Friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Soxman Funeral Homes, Ltd., 7450 Saltsburg Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church of Holy Family Parish.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made through the simple yet meaningful act of giving blood in Maggie’s honor—a reflection of her lifelong commitment to helping others. Her legacy of love, compassion, and service will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know her.
