Amanda Regan Car Accident Chesapeake Beach, MD woman dies in single-vehicle crash

A tragic single-vehicle crash in Owings on Tuesday night claimed the life of a 37-year-old woman, according to the Maryland State Police.

The victim has been identified as Amanda Regan of Chesapeake Beach. Authorities confirmed that she was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash, which occurred late in the evening.

According to an official release, troopers from the Maryland State Police Prince Frederick Barrack were dispatched at approximately 9:07 p.m. to eastbound Route 260 near the East Mt. Harmony Road overpass after receiving reports of a serious collision involving a single vehicle. Emergency responders arrived to find a Jeep Wrangler that had sustained significant damage.

Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that, for reasons still unknown, the vehicle failed to navigate a left-hand curve in the roadway. As a result, the Jeep crossed into the eastbound lanes, struck a guardrail, and ultimately came to rest off the roadway after colliding with a tree. Amanda Regan was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Authorities have not yet determined what caused the vehicle to leave its lane, and investigators are continuing to examine all possible factors, including road conditions, speed, and any potential mechanical issues. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is actively leading the investigation and is expected to provide updates as more information becomes available.

The crash led to significant traffic disruptions in the area, with portions of Route 260 closed for more than three hours as emergency crews worked at the scene. Deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office and personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assisted with traffic control and road closures while the investigation was underway.

This incident marks the third fatal motor vehicle crash in Calvert County in 2026, underscoring ongoing concerns about roadway safety in the region. Local officials continue to urge drivers to remain cautious, particularly on curved or rural roadways where conditions can change quickly.

The loss of Amanda Regan has left her family, friends, and community in mourning. As the investigation continues, authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has relevant information to come forward.

Further details are expected as the Maryland State Police continue their investigation into this tragic incident.
